LONDON Holiday and Tourism Information for the
Archery Events - 2012 Olympic
ARCHERY
Better known as the
ancestral home of an entirely different sport, the Lord's
Cricket Ground in
St John’s Wood, London, will
be turned over to archery
(July 30 to August 5) for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
Owned by the MCC (Marylebone Cricket Club), the venue proudly
boasts that it has the oldest sporting museum in the world.
In the early modern Olympic Games archery was one of the few
sports open to women. It includes both team and individual
events using targets of 122cm and 80cm in diameter.
Participants shoot from a distance of 70 metres.
