LONDON Holiday and Tourism Information for the
Basketball Events - 2012 Olympic
|
|
BASKETBALL A specially built
arena with 12,000 seats and situated at London’s new Olympic
Park at Newham will host the qualifying rounds of the
basketball competition during the 2012 Summer Olympic Games. A
‘temporary’ venue, it will be taken down and relocated after
the Games draw to an end. The finals will be staged at the
North Greenwich Arena 1.
The game is played worldwide and although many believe it
originated in the United States it was invented by a Canadian,
James Naismith, as a game that could be played indoors in
winter.
The 2012 basketball events will take place on
(July 28 to August 11).
