JUDO
The oriental martial art
of judo first entered the arena of the Olympic Games in its
native country, Japan, at Tokyo in 1964 when Japanese
contestants took three of the four gold medals on offer. Today
there are 14 golds up for grabs. Women have taken part in the
Olympic judo programme since 1992.
London’s ExCel International Exhibition Centre is scheduled
to be the venue for the latest Olympic tournament between (July 28 and August 3), 2012, featuring almost 400
participants.
