London’s ExCel
International Exhibition Centre will host the wrestling
contests for the 2012 Olympic Games from (August 4 to
August 12). A total of 18 gold medals will be fought over
by nearly 350 contestants.
The sport has two distinct disciplines, freestyle - introduced
to the Olympics at the 1904 St Louis Games - and Greco-Roman,
which was among the first of the modern Olympic sports staged
in Athens 1896. Women first competed against each other at the
2004 Games in Athens.
